ART ON AMSTRAD! (digitized images)

 ART ON AMSTRAD! (digitized images)

Here you will find some of the digitized images that were made for our games.

The digitized images are made by Brundij.

The images are made by using a converter, but there is a lot of manual retouch needed, due to the technical restrictions of Amstrad.

Restrictions:

If you use MODE 2, the letters are small, that's nice for a text adventure game, the analysis is very good, but only 2 colours can be used. This can be a problem, as the images are not colourful. We do not use this mode a lot.

If you use MODE 0, you can use 16 colours, but the analysis is low. Also, the main problem is that, when you have to add text, the letters are really big, so very few words can fit on the screen. We can use this mode only when there is no text.

MODE 1: The best option for our text adventures. Text can be added, and we can use 4 colours. Not easy, but we can make some nice quality images, after much work.

Also, we asked Brundij to tell us a few words for his excellent work and that is how he described the process of making the images:

"Well the process of converting images isn't anything too exciting. It's just play with sliders and the palette until I find a suitable status on the image that looks good and can be easily retouched on Photoshop.
What I do depending on the image is taking a clear and a blurred version of the same image. This way I can keep things on the foreground, or important details on the image highlighted. (like in the treasure image for example). Afterwards if I need to clean up the image or retouch parts of it I do it on Photoshop on the already converted image to the amstrad palette since due to the low resolution nature of these images is easier to do and I don't have to be too meticulous."

Now, you can see some of the best, in our opinion, pictures that Brundij has made for our games.

We hope you like our images!
